Despite all the other things I seem to be involved
in, progress is slowly being made on my Navigator.

                                The gunwales
have finally been finished BUT have been fitted
as a 4 piece laminate.I tried to fit them as
one piece but broke a couple so my retired boatbuilder
mate said split them in two and they will then
go around the curve of the bow. |

                              | Unfortunately he
didn't say which way to split them and I of course
got it wrong again and split them sideways instead
of vertically so the still broke so he put me
right and I ended up splitting them into four
and laminating them like that. |

                                He also suggested
that the transom didn't look strong enough with
                                  just the 6mm and 9mm doublers...especially for
what I intend to use Nav for....(some sailing
and lots of fishing in what are quite exposed)
areas that mean I shall definitely be using
                                  the outboard reasonably often. |

                              | I have decide on
                                a 4 horse 4 stroke.As you can see I therefore
put another 6mm laminate on the outside and filled
in the area around the doublers inside with 9mm
and faired these off so the transom is now very
                                strong. |

Due to my fishing needs I have decide to go with
the Sloop but as I stopped the stem at B#2 I am now
putting an extension of this piece of Stem between
B#2 and B#3 with a compression post fitted in case
I ever decide to go back to the Yawl.
You will no doubt notice that once again I have found
                            ROPE to make good clamps.

                                The bottom
of the Bow panel is pulled into place by rope
through 4 screwed in eyes and around solid timber
supports above, which is then twisted to tighten
                                  like a Spanish windlass. |

                              | The eyes will be
removed and holes filled once the glue has set.The
Bow is slightly over size past the stem and will
be trimmed to final shape when the glue has set. |

Besides the photos of Nav I am sending just a few
of some of the future playgrounds Nav will enjoy....

                            enjoy your summer sailing/boating season.
