I've found the Acuscribe to be a really useful addition to my tool kit. Works great as a regular compass, makes scribing easier than with a regular compass, and has an onboard pencil sharpener.

The freeboard seems a little low, but there won't be any need for one of Chuck's
portable showers.

This is the likely outcome if you don't practise your capsize drill.

As many here know Cathy and I have purchased Chuck's, Jim Michalak designed Caprice and have, after attending Sail Oklahoma, set sail down the Arkansas River towing our John Welsford designed Sherpa. We launched, with the help of Mike and Jackie Monies in Muskogee Oklahoma and plan to take out in Pine Bluff Arkansas.

Cathy has started a blog chronicling our progress here.

Oh yeah, and if you thought an F18 was expensive... This baby will set you back $85k...

We, umm, we're almost done. Once we do a couple layers of epoxy on the exterior, it's all paint and fiddly bits from here on out.

Maybe this article from the archives of the Open Canoe Sailing Group on making sponsons giving an adhesive name may be useful. Second article down.

An interesting read. I suggest you read the sections in this order: About Herb, Boats, The Fire, and finally Gypsy House. It is a window into an interesting life. Chuck

I'm sure most of you have already read it, but if not then Jim Michalak has a good write up here:

https://jimsboats.com/#Capsize Lessons

on the capsize tests Stan and I did at SailOK a few weeks ago.
